G. A. Cohen is dead

G. A. Cohen died last night of a stroke at 68, an age that, at least for academics (and more so for him), is still ripe and young. There are brief online notices by Chris Bertam, Lawrence Solum, and Brian Leiter. Many link to his valedictory address. I regret never to have met him, as I hear from all places that he was a pleasure to behold, but I have been deeply challenged by his criticisms of Rawlsian liberalism and think they are some of the most compelling that have been put forth. He will be missed.
